Flagler College tour at the Hotel Ponce de Leon

By and far one of the best and most overlooked thing to see and do while visiting St Augustine is the Flagler College tour at the Hotel Ponce de Leon also known as the Flagler Legacy Tour.  Our bed and breakfast guests are so grateful that we recommend this St. Augustine Tour.

Located across the street from the Lightner Museum the old hotel was once the winter residence of the country's famous and well to do.  The St Augustine hotel was completed in 1887 and hosted many famous individuals including Mark Twain, Babe Ruth and President Theodore Roosevelt.  Louis Comfort Tiffany was responsible for the interior elements of the luxury hotel and Henry Flagler's friend Thomas Edison supplied the building with electricity, making it one of the first to have it.  Built before electricity this Florida hotel is loaded with hand carved wood and marble, gold light fixtures and hand painted ceilings.  Flagler College students are responsible for providing the one hour tours, which occur on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily while school is in recess and at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the college sessions.

This is definitely a St. Augustine must see tour while visiting the oldest continuously occupied European city.  We are the way to stay and the Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast is just two blocks away from Flagler College.
