St Augustine Bed and Breakfast for New Years Eve 2010

The best way to experience New Years Eve is to stay in the area.  Making the night even more special is the ongoing "Nights of Lights" event.  The oldest city is lit up with millions of tiny lights.  Walk around and see the beautiful city and help bring in the New Year.  Many of the St. Augustine restaurants will be having extended hours and serving up special packages for the New Years Eve.

O. C. White's will be offering dancing and a champagne toast at midnight, but starting at 7 p.m. guests will gather at The White Room in St Augustine for dinner on the rooftop overlooking Matanzas Bay and watch the Fireworks from Beach Blast Off 2011 in the distance.  The fireworks will start at 8:30 p.m.  The Raintree Restaurant St Augustine fl will be offing special three and four-course dinners especially selected for the night.  Le Pavillon of Saint Augustine will also be offering a special holiday menu, European style.

Jeanie and I decided to beat the rush and we had our New Year's Eve meal at La Pentola right here in the Historic District last night, so that someone else can have a wonderful meal like us.  What ever you do enjoy your stay and have a safe and Happy New Year.  Carriage Way is a better way to stay!

St Augustine Bed and Breakfast 2010 Holiday Tour - Part II

We had another very successful weekend for the 2010 Holiday Tour.  Although it was a little chiller this year for the tour, the rain did stop in time for the inns that were on tour for Sunday.  It was wonderful to see everyone dressed for the Holidays and to hear where they all came from.  We visited with a wonderful family from the upper peninsula of Michigan, a newly married couple from New Jersey, and a group of sisters from Tennessee, who traveled to St. Augustine to join the Tour.

The Columbia Restaurant was quite gracious to sponsor the Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast and did they.  They made their Chicken and Chorizo Paella served up in a 4 foot Paella pan along with their delicious Sangria.  The guests were delighted by the portion sizes served and there may have been a few second servings.

Amy Hendrickson provided the musical talent as she played guitar and entertained the crowd with her angelic voice.  Amy had originally planned to play on the front porch, but given the weather conditions she opted for the dining room where she could capture the sun's rays through the front windows

Proceeds from the tour will benefit the "Empty Stocking Fund" which is organized by the St. Augustine Record.  We certainly could not have had such a successful event without their crew of volunteers and support.  The Inn Tour is always a top national holiday event in the Southeast.  Make your plans to travel to St. Augustine next year and stay in the heart of the holiday spirit.  Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast is the better way to stay for the Holidays!

Pat Croce's St Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum

Buccaneers and Landlubbers alike will give Pat Croce's St Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum two hooks up!  The official opening of this museum in Florida doesn't occur until December the 8th while Pat and his Buckos complete some small details in order to get it shipshape by opening day, but we were fortunate to have a sneak peak during a reception on Friday.  We successfully avoided being three sheets to the wind and enjoyed this highly entertaining and educational experience.

We were plesantly surprised at the quality of this Florida attraction not only for the authentic historical pieces including an actual pirate treasure chest, real Jolly Roger pirate flag and captain's log books; but also by the interactive experience that immerses you into the world of pirates.  Blimey! and a big Yo Ho Ho for a job well done.  Don't miss the opportunity to go below deck for the surround sound effects created for a lively experience with pirates.  Old Salts and lassies alike will take great joy in this experience.  We are already planning our return visit to this St. Augustine attraction and if you are traveling in Florida, we can highly recommend this Florida museum for things to see and do.

The St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum is located directly across the street from the Castillo de San Marco and right next the St Augustine Colonial Spanish Quarter.  Open everyday from 9 - 6 p.m., closed on Christmas Day.  You should be Keelhauled for not staying in St. Augustine.  Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast is the better way to stay for your St. Augustine Florida getaway.
